Panel to debate SA’s current state of affairs

With both the national Budget Speech and the State of the Nation Address (SONA) having been delivered, it is now time for Everyday Man to come to terms with the socio-economic and political impact of these important national indicators.

On Friday, 8 March 2019, the North-West University’s (NWU’s) campus in Vanderbijlpark will be hosting its annual NWU Alumni Business Breakfast.

This networking event will see members of the NWU’s alumni fraternity, academia, business owners and community members coming together to share their thoughts and ideas on SONA and the national Budget Speech.

A panel of experts will facilitate the discussion and focus on the day-to-day impact of issues such as the current economic policy, tax, wasteful spending, state-owned enterprises and economic growth. All issues of high importance, especially considering that South Africans will take to the voting stations during the year to elect a new National Assembly and new provincial legislatures in each province.

The panel of experts include: Olivia Vaughan (Chief Operations Officer: Golden Triangle Chamber of Commerce), Lesego More (social activist), Nkateko Rafael Khoza (CEO: Leza Private Equity) and Michelle Groenewald (researcher and lecturer: NWU Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences).

According to Zanele Ngobese, alumni coordinator, the event heeds the call of President Cyril Ramaphosa to come together and collectively lend a hand in finding solutions to current day problems such as unemployment, service delivery, housing, gender-based violence and land reform.

For more information or to book your seat, contact Zanele Ngobese on 016 910 3250. Ticket prices are R700 for a table of 10 guests, R140 per couple and R70 per person.

The panellists are Olivia Vaughan, Lesego More, Nkateko Rafael Khoza and Michelle Groenewald.
