The award was handed over at a PMR.africa business breakfast in Vereeniging. Top decision makers, civil society, members of government, industry professionals and academia come together to be rewarded for their commitment towards economic growth and development within the region.
Prof Linda du Plessis, deputy vice-chancellor for planning and for operations on the campus in Vanderbijlpark, delivered the keynote address and focused on the leadership opportunities and challenges accompanying the fourth industrial revolution.
She congratulated awardees and challenged them to embrace ethical leadership, to invest in value-adding technologies and to continually strive towards promoting learnability. “As a collective, we can and must change the trajectory of the region, the province and ultimately the country,” said Prof Du Plessis.
The Sedibeng region includes the municipalities of Emfuleni, Lesedi and Midvaal. This region has been identified as a growth point and potential investment area for international and local developers and investors.
