NWU alumnus Arrie Rautenbach named CEO of Absa

North-West University (NWU) alumnus Arnold (Arrie) Rautenbach has been named Absa’s Chief Executive Officer: Retail and Business Banking South Africa and will take over the reigns at the banking giant with immediate effect. 

Arrie headed Absa’s retail and business banking branch since November 2011. 
The 56-year-old holds a Bachelor of Business Administration as well as a MBA degree from the NWU. In 2012 Arrie was named Retail Banker of the Year by Retail International Banker Magazine, and in addition to his various accolades, he also serves on a number of boards. 

"His extensive experience in the banking sector, his in-depth knowledge of Absa through several executive roles over the years, and his experience and strengths in strategy development and execution, positions him ideally to lead the group at this time," said Absa in an official statement.
