Alumni to gather for annual business breakfast

The much anticipated annual North-West University (NWU) Alumni Business Breakfast will take place on 8 March 2019 in Vanderbijlpark.

This networking event sees members of the NWU’s alumni fraternity, academia, business owners and community members coming together to debate issues such as the State of the Nation Address (SONA) and the national Budget Speech. A panel of experts will also be at hand to address issues – both economically and politically, impacting the country.

According to Zanele Ngobese, alumni coordinator on the campus in Vanderbijlpark, the event heeds the call of President Cyril Ramaphosa to come together and collectively lend a hand in finding solutions to current day problems such as unemployment, service delivery, housing, gender-based violence and land reform.

“As a university we are saying count us in and through events like these, we create a platform where constructive dialogue between academia and the public and private sectors can take place. Our alumni fraternity furthermore represents a dynamic think tank of experience and innovation which allow us to put forward concrete solutions that can positively contribute to improving the socioeconomic conditions of our country,” explains Zanele.

The aim of the panel discussion is to bring to the fore unique perspectives on the topic of politics and business, especially given the fact that 2019 will see South Africans take to the voting stations to elect a new National Assembly and new provincial legislatures in each province.
