Pastor Gugu Ndlovu, a student pursuing a PhD in theology with pastoral studies at the Vanderbijlpark Campus of the North-West University (NWU) and a dedicated full-time pastor at Mount Olives Ministries, recently won the prestigious national Visualise Your Thesis Competition.

She is now through to the international Visualise Your Thesis Competition with her thesis titled “Experiences of premarital counselling among African Christians in South Africa”.

The final round of the sixth annual Leopards Lair® student business pitching competition was hosted jointly by the TTIS, bhive Enterprise Development Centre and the North-West University (NWU) Business School on Thursday, 3 October.

When one enters the NWU Art Gallery, you are immediately dragged into an adventure of colour and texture. Right next to the foyer of the gallery the magical work of Dr Colette Lotz unfolds before your eyes. Lotz is a local artist and academic in the Graphic Design subject group at the Potchefstroom Campus of the North-West University (NWU), and her work is truly extraordinary.

The North-West University's (NWU’s) bhive Enterprise Development Centre, in partnership with Mindworx, recently hosted the 2024 Geekulcha Internal Hackathon on the Vanderbijlpark Campus.

The six-day event, themed "Empowering the Vaal through digital innovation", highlighted the tremendous potential of digital innovation in addressing local community challenges.

The North-West University recently hosted an empowering Women Conference across all three of its campuses. Women leaders holding positions from peromnes levels 2 to 6, as well as upcoming women leaders from peromnes levels 7 to 8, participated in the hybrid in person and virtual event.

The North-West University (NWU’s) Puseletso Lesofe, a medical biological scientist on the Potchefstroom Campus, was announced the winner in the STEMI category of the 2024 Mail & Guardian Power of Women Awards on 29 August.

This specific award celebrates the accomplishments of women making significant contributions in the fields of science, technology, engineering, mathematics and innovation (STEMI).

With only two games remaining in the Varsity Netball round-robin stage, the North-West University (NWU) faces a crucial period in their campaign as they fight to secure a place in the semi-finals. Despite a challenging weekend, where NWU suffered a 64-39 loss against the University of Johannesburg (UJ), the team remains focused on their goal.

Coach Elsunet du Plessis emphasises that their semi-final hopes are still alive and that they are working hard to improve and perform under pressure.

At just 22, Neo Nkhumane is making her presence known in academia and the world of pageantry. As a master's degree student in communication at the North-West University (NWU) and now a top 10 finalist in the Miss World South Africa pageant, Neo is a shining example of how dedication and ambition can bring success in multiple arenas.

Kimera Govender’s path from student to environmental advocate is an indication of her passion for sustainability, the environment and her community. A proud alumnus of the North-West University (NWU), her path has now led her to being a finalist in the prestigious Miss Earth South Africa competition, where she is making a significant impact on her community while promoting environmental awareness and sustainability.
