Four scientists of the North-West University (NWU) are finalists in the National Science and Technology’s (NSTF) prestigious science awards, also known as the “Science Oscars” of South Africa.

Without a proper understanding of economic concepts one is flying blind in the intricate landscape that is the South African economy. This is according to Prof Danie Meyer, senior lecturer within the School of Economic Sciences at the North-West University’s (NWU’s) campus in Vanderbijlpark.

Four scientists of the North-West University (NWU) are finalists in the National Science and Technology’s (NSTF) prestigious science awards, also known as the “Science Oscars” of South Africa.

Research collaboration was on the agenda when leading scholars from Ghana, Nigeria and Zimbabwe visited the delivery site of the North-West University School of Business and Governance (NWU-SBG) in Mahikeng from 20 to 22 April 2017.

Jan Melchior Pieterse is a born achiever – and the recent Autumn Graduation Ceremony of the North-West University’s (NWU) campus in Vanderbijlpark bears testament to this.

Noluthando Mtshali may be small in build, but she is a force to be reckoned with in the field of chartered accountancy.

The North-West University (NWU) has produced one of Africa’s youngest female PhD graduates. Musawenkosi “Musa” Saurombe received her PhD in Industrial Psychology at the university`s campus in Mahikeng on 25 April 2017.

They are a sight common in South Africa as they scavenge landfills and go through bins in suburbs, business and industrial districts. Yet little is known about the role waste pickers play in the economy.

The South African Economy showed negative growth in the final quarter of 2016. This negative growth can be contributed to the decline in two sectors, namely: mining and manufacturing. During an interview with RSG, well-known economist, Dr Andre Mellet from the North-West University’s (NWU’s) Vanderbijlpark Campus, commented on the negative growth figures for the final quarter of 2016.
