Academic addresses women's well-being at Mining Indaba

North-West University (NWU) deputy subject group leader and social work lecturer Dr Luce Pretorius recently had the honour of being invited to speak at the prestigious Women in Mining Indaba (WIM) event.

Hosted by the Mine Health and Safety Council, the event themed “Nothing about us, without us, striving for zero harm”, aimed to unpack and prioritise occupational health and safety concerns impacting women in the sector. The main goal was to develop a programme that the South African Mining Industry can implement to ensure women in the mining industry are safe from harm.

Young researcher receives NRF award for excellence

Research with impact ─ this is what the North-West University (NWU) is renowned for. The university’s researchers continue to shine nationally and internationally. This was again evident at the recent 2024 National Research Foundation (NRF) awards, where a young NWU researcher was honoured in the Early Career/Emerging Researchers category.

NWU-Juta Mock Trial celebrates decade of practical experience for law students

The North-West University (NWU) hosted the 10th annual NWU-Juta Mock Trial competition from 17 to 19 August 2024. The event, which concluded with a final round at the North West High Court, provided second- and third-year law students with the opportunity to apply their legal knowledge in a practical courtroom setting.
