Young NWU poet shines bright

In a race all the runners run, but only the best ones end up on the podium. This is exactly where North-West University (NWU) student and young poet, Lesego Motlhankane, found himself recently.  Last year he was crowned the winner of the third AVBOB Poetry competition. Fast forward to 2022, and Lesego finds himself in the winners’ circle yet again.

NWU Mahikeng Campus SCC joins forces with MEC’s office to encourage learners

This was the message MEC of Finance Motlalepula Rosho conveyed to high-school learners during a community outreach programme co-hosted by the Student Campus Council (SCC) of the North-West University’s (NWU’s) Mahikeng Campus.

North-West University announces new chairperson and deputy chairperson of its Council

During its meeting on 23 June 2022 the North-West University (NWU) Council elected a new chairperson and deputy chairperson.

Mr Bert Sorgdrager, a seasoned legal professional with more than 30 years’ experience in the private sector, was elected as the sixth chairperson of the NWU Council. Mr Obakeng Mongale, an experienced public servant and the current superintendent general for the North West Department of Health, will serve as deputy chairperson.

The North-West University Business School's Prof Raymond Parsons interviews Minister Naledi Pandor and unpacks the Department of International Relations and Cooperation’s (DIRCO’s) vision and mission in Africa and to examine whether the relationship between DIRCO and business can be strengthened for this purpose.

To this end the role of diplomatic missions on the continent and their interaction with South African business has been interrogated in this video to see in what ways South Africa’s economic interests in Africa can be further promoted and expanded.

NWU alumnus wins prestigious US music competition

North-West University (NWU) alumnus and a decorated operatic baritone Tshilidzi Ndou is brimming with pride after winning the pre-professional division of the prestigious George Shirley Vocal Competition: African American Vocal Repertoire.

A highlight of the competition was his performance of the Genius Child, a winsome rendition of Robert Owens.

Thorny road does not intimidate Jane Fransman

With every stair Tebogo climbs to the stage, with every step he takes across the stage, the heart of his mom, Jane Fransman, beats faster. Thump-thump, thump-thump. Proud beats. When he stops and receives his teaching degree there, in the auditorium of the Potchefstroom Campus of the North-West University (NWU), she wants to jump out of her skin. Tears course down her cheeks. “I was very happy. I never thought I would see the day that he would stand on the stage and receive his degree.” Because life has tried to throw her from course more than once.
