From campus sport to top-flight football, Lulutho Jizana has joined the medical team at Orbit College FC with a focus on player care and injury management.

Lulutho, a former first aider at North-West University (NWU), joined Orbit, a club competing in the DStv Premiership, in March.

He studied sport coaching and human movement science at the NWU and gained experience across multiple sporting codes and match environments while working with NWU rugby and the Soccer Institute.

An outstanding performance by Batswana Commercial High School under-18 team ensured they emerged victorious in the North-West University (NWU) High Schools Netball Tournament.

The tournament was hosted by NWU Netball in collaboration with Student Life and Marketing and Student Recruitment at the Mahikeng Campus netball courts on 21 March 2026.

The event brought together seven schools: International School of South Africa (ISSA), Curro Mahikeng, Mmabatho High School, St Mary’s High School, Living Faith, Tetlano Secondary School and Batswana Commercial High School.

The dream of bringing the Varsity Cup home came to a heartbreaking end for the NWU Eagles on Monday, 13 April, in Pretoria after they fell 31-3 short against a seasoned FNB UP-Tuks side in a sold-out final. A defeat at the rain-soaked Tuks Stadium will always be remembered as one that sparked pride and identity for the Eagles.

The FNB NWU Eagles are ready to step up in the Varsity Cup final against the FNB UP-Tuks in a rivalry battle on Monday 13 April in Tshwane. Coach Burger van der Westhuizen’s side dominated FNB Maties at the Fanie du Toit Sportsgrounds to secure their place in the highly anticipated final.

With preparations in place ahead of the final showdown, the Eagles are hoping to repeat their 2023 Varsity Cup Success, but they have a tough row to hoe.

Road to the finals

The FNB North-West University (NWU) Eagles booked their place in the 2026 Varsity Cup Final in emphatic fashion, dismantling FNB Maties 50 – 10 in a blockbuster semi-final fixture at the Fanie du Toit Sportsgrounds on Monday, 6 April. The dominant victory extends the Eagles’ unbeaten home run and avenges their 26 – 30 defeat to Maties in their round-six clash at the Danie Craven Stadium on 23 March.

The South African Canoe Polo Championships took centre stage, from 27 February to 1 March, in Century City, Cape Town bringing together top paddlers from across the country for a weekend of fast-paced, high-intensity action.
