Work addiction is a reality in the 21st century

Organisational interventions should aim to help young adults and managers to suppress and inhibit workaholic tendencies and maintain a positive work-life balance. This is what Prof Cecelie Schou Andreassen from the University of Bergen in Norway said during a guest lecture hosted by the Optentia research focus area on the North-West University’s (NWU’s) campus in Vanderbijlpark.

SA’s banking sector to utilise NWU’s operational risk model

A new methodology for determining economic capital for operational risk was recently proposed by the North-West University’s (NWU’S) Centre for Business Mathematics and Informatics (BMI). This model was subsequently successfully introduced to the South African financial services sector and is now being implemented by Absa as part of their operational risk processes.
