NWU noble boys are ready for their clash with UWC

Hot on the heels of their win against the University of Western Cape (UWC) at the recent University Sports South Africa (USSA) championship, the North-West University’s (NWU’s) noble boys will seek to fortify their dominance during the kick-off of this year’s Varsity Football tournament.

The NWU football team will face UWC at 16:00 on 26 July 2018 in a televised home game at the NWU Mahikeng Stadium.

After being kicked out of the 2017 Varsity Football tournament during the last group stages by Tshwane University of Technology (TUT), the NWU team will be heading into this week’s encounter with one important lesson in mind – that skill on the pitch must be met with an undying determination and will to excel at all costs.

“We learned an important lesson with the defeat we suffered at the hands of TUT during last year’s tournament,” says NWU football club manager, Vuyolwethu Sambo. “Team work makes the dream work – that is the most valuable lesson than any loss could ever teach. And of course it doesn’t hurt to be a team with one of the best supporter groups in this tournament. The NWU wave of supporters is the tsunami that will propel us forward.”

Varsity Football’s annual tournament involves the top football playing universities in the country and is run by Varsity Sports South Africa which is endorsed by the South African Football Association and USSA.

Don’t miss out – the encounter between the NWU and UWC will be broadcast live on SuperSport channel 203 at 16:00 on 26 July 2018.
