The Enactus student chapter of the North-West University (NWU) is making its impact felt nationally, and if their performance in 2018 was anything to go by, then the stage is set for an exciting new year.

When it comes to mind sports as a competitive sporting code, the North-West University’s (NWU’s) campus in Vanderbijlpark is without a doubt leading the charge.

With the events of Friday, 1 February 2019, still fresh in the minds of all South Africans, the community continuously rally around the staff, learners and families affected by the Hoërskool Driehoek tragedy.

Entrepreneurship is no longer just a buzzword of the times. It represents an effective intervention to boost growth, foster innovation, and aid in job creation – especially within the South African context.

Each year the North-West University (NWU) eagerly awaits its intake of new first-year students across the three campuses. This year the university welcome 9 955 first-year contact students of which 1 571 registered at the campus in Vanderbijlpark.

The Emfuleni Ratepayers’ Association (ERPA), constituted in 2010, classifies the Emfuleni Local Municipality (ELM) as a distressed and dysfunctional municipality. This classification gained national concurrence when the dismal state of the Vaal River eco-system, being polluted with raw sewerage flowing directly into the river from trenches dug the municipality, made headlines in the media.

When it comes to research, the findings are only as strong as the analysis of the data. If a researcher is proficient in statistical analysis the research will benefit society, if not, it is an opportunity lost.

The much anticipated annual North-West University (NWU) Alumni Business Breakfast will take place on 8 March 2019 in Vanderbijlpark.

The subject group History in the North-West University’s (NWU) School of Social Sciences will play host to Prof Sabelo Ndlovu Gatsheni from UNISA during the month of May.

If South Africa is to meet the National Development Plan’s target of creating 11 million jobs by 2030, entrepreneurship – especially amongst women – needs to be encouraged. In this regard, the North-West University (NWU) is stepping to the fore as an entrepreneurship accelerator by means of its annual Enterprising Women Programme (EWP).
