The whole family can be affected when living with a family member with a mental disorder, disability or developmental delay. Mechanisms to cope with the resulting stress include escape, avoidance, denial or looking to religion.  This is according to Tshepang Modise, nursing science master’s graduate at North-West University (NWU).

Tshepang has conducted research titled “Coping mechanisms used by families of mental health care users (MHCU) in Mahikeng Sub-district, North West Province”.

Reigning Varsity Football champions, North-West University (NWU) Eagles, and the University of Free State shared the spoils in a goalless draw in the fourth round of the 2021 Varsity Football tournament.

This game was an action-packed encounter, with both teams producing a slew of chances to break the tie, but none coming to fruition.

According to Prof Emmanuel Mgqwashu, CTL’s director for faculty teaching and learning support, one cannot ignore how both the oppressed and the oppressor have used Christianity in the past to justify opposing beliefs and actions in a post-colonial, post-apartheid and post-conflict context.

Football administration and coaching have long been dominated by men all around the world, but the winds of change are blowing. Recently more women have entered this male-dominated sport, either as administrators or coaches.

One such shining star is Azania Amogelang Moshushu, head coach of the North-West University’s (NWU’s) women’s team. She holds a BSc degree in human movement and sports science and, after obtaining her first coaching licence (Introduction to coaching development), she received the Central African Football (CAF) C licence for coaching.

With the Varsity Football tournament starting soon, the North-West University (NWU) team and reigning champions are ready to defend the title.

Coach Karabo Masehela says he is confident that his team is 100% ready.

“We know as the current champions that every team will be going all out for us, so we are saying to them, bring it on! I have been working with some exciting talent, and we are more than ready,” he says.
