South Africa has come to a crossroad. One road leads to a developing country that is characterised by continued economic growth and stability, while the other is riddled with political and economic uncertainty. The fact remains, however, that this crossroad is representative of a critical point in South Africa’s history when decisions with far-reaching consequences must be made.

These issues together with other factors – on a micro and macro level – will be discussed during the annual Alumni Business Breakfast of the North-West University (NWU) on Thursday, 1 March 2018.

The annual networking event, hosted by the Alumni Relations Office of the NWU’s campus in Vanderbijlpark, not only brings alumni together but also friends of the university, community members and industry representatives.

This year a panel of experts will take to the floor to debate the much anticipated State of the Nation Address (SONA) and the national Budget Speech. The theme of the discussion will be: ‘A closer look at SA’s current affairs’. The panel members include: Max Boqwana (CEO, Thabo Mbeki Foundation), Prof Danie Meyer (NWU, Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences), Prof Ilyayambwa Mwanawina (NWU, Faculty of Law) and Nkosi Duncan Mthembu (NWU postgraduate student in Political Sciences).
