She continues by saying:
We are thankful that we can look upon the sun’s shimmer on a full river in the morning while it steadily and strongly runs past after all the rain that we have been blessed with lately. It is hard to think that we have gone from a terrible drought and water restrictions to a full Vaal Dam and an excess of water within merely two or three months. The rain holds a valuable lesson for all of us: it doesn’t matter how bad the drought (or challenge) is, we have no choice but to push on and keep believing that we will get through it.
With Human Rights on the agenda this month, we can proudly say that we are looking forward to the Autumn Graduation ceremony of a cohort of students which represents a true reflection of our country and its demographics. We are proud of every one of these students: a total of 1 664 graduates.
As a campus our research outputs thus far reflect an increase in quality, international publication as well as growth in our output per capita. Even though the final results will only be available after an audit in May, so far it looks very promising.
The annual NWU Vaal Alumni Breakfast was once again a highlight on Vanderbijlpark’s business calendar. Alumnus Ettienne le Roux once again showed why he is regarded as one of South Africa’s top economists. It is occasions such as this one that affords us the opportunity to welcome our alumni, who are currently playing significant roles in the business world, back in our midst. By doing so we invite them to proactively get involved in the role that we play in training our future leaders and in the impact that we want to make on the community.
