Welcome, Mr and Miss NWU Mahikeng Campus

By Menziwa Msibi

Larona Binang and Saneze Gweva are the North-West University’s (NWU’s) Mr and Miss Mahikeng Campus.

They were crowned during a beauty pageant hosted by the North-West University’s (NWU’s) Arts and Culture office on 12 August 2023.

This event is hosted annually to provide a platform for students to showcase and enhance their talents and to express themselves through public speaking.

After a tough round that tested the contestants’ knowledge Larona and Saneze emerged champions. In addition, Saneze was also announced as Mr NWU Campus.

Larona says she participated in the pageant because it has awarded her the opportunity to refocus her vision and inspire others.

“This is the beginning of living my purpose unapologetically and intentionally.

“The words l selected as the theme of my life for 2023 were growth, healing and intention, in every area of my life. Therefore, my main focus when entering the pageant was to challenge and really pull myself out of my shell with the intent to grow from the experience. l believe that it is impossible to trigger transformation in people if you are not evolving as a person too,” she adds.

Members of the SCC, along with the Mr and Miss Campus 2022/23 winners, will host an On-Campus Brand Activation to create awareness about the next pageant.
