The North-West University’s Varsity Netball team is looking to end the group stages of this years’ tournament on the same high as how they started. Coach Elsunet du Plessis’ team beat UJ 77-27 in their opening match and have since won four out of their six fixtures.
They currently occupy the fifth position on the overall log with their last game against Kovsies on 24 September. It is a must-win game for the NWU, having lost their last two games against Maties and the Madibaz. A win for the NWU and a win for Maties against the Madibaz on Monday will see the NWU secure a play-off spot. Tukkies face UWC, but it is unlikely that the latter will upset the Pretoria-based powerhouse.
In other netball news Monique Reyneke made the Protea squad for the Quad Series, joining team mates Sigi Burger and Romé Dreyer. Dreyer is also the captain of the Varsity Netball team.
