The North-West University’s (NWU’s) Vanderbijilpark Campus has once again been recognised as the highest-rated institution for higher education at the prestigious 2023 PMR.africa Business Excellence Awards.
PMR.Africa is a leading South African consultancy and research company. It publishes a business journal, together with an online version, serving as a vehicle for sharing the results of its various surveys. Through these surveys companies and institutions with potential are identified and recognised for excellence across all industry sectors.
The award ceremony was held at the Riverside Sun Hotel in Vanderbijlpark, where the NWU won a Diamond Arrow Award for the 13th consecutive time. The awards are made in four categories – the Bronze, Silver, Gold and Diamond Arrows, with the Diamond Arrow Award being the highest possible honour in the awards’ higher education category.
The university has been rated as the best higher education institution in the Sedibeng district, which includes the municipalities of Emfuleni, Lesedi and Midvaal.
This rating was given as a result of PMR.africa's annual survey. The ratings are based on the perceptions of the respondents in the area and take into account various criteria. These include the institution's contribution to the economic growth and development of the district over the past year, the level of managerial expertise, implementation of corporate governance, brand awareness and innovation.
Prof Linda du Plessis, deputy vice-chancellor for planning and Vanderbijlpark Campus operations, expressed her gratitude, and said that the university is honoured to receive yet another accolade.
"The NWU's achievement at the PMR.africa Business Excellence Awards is a testament to the university community's commitment to excellence and its contribution to the region's growth and development. The university will continue to strive for excellence in all aspects of its operations and provide its students with the best education possible, contributing to the economic growth and development of the region. With this recognition, the NWU has firmly re-established itself as one of the leading universities in the region, and it will continue to push the boundaries of academic excellence and innovation."
