Ujeet Maharaj, prosecutor and head of Student Discipline at the North-West University’s (NWU’s), has been invited to attend a leadership event for local leaders in Sebokeng to enhance collaboration between the Ubuntu Clinic at Westside Park and other stakeholders in the community.
The Ubuntu Clinic, managed by the non-profit organisation Ubuntu Evolution Hub under the leadership of Prof Simonia Margadie, serves as a vital support system for the care, treatment, and well-being of the community. Notably, the clinic is a product of generous donations from the USA, with a history of investment in Sebokeng spanning 19 years.
Ujeet, who will be accompanied by Lucas Nthibe Makoro, manager of Student Judicial Services at the NWU, will join various key figures – including representatives from the South African Police Service, the Community Policing Forum, the Department of Community Safety, the Department of Social Development, the Sebokeng Hospital, and various school principals.
He says the presence of these stakeholders underscores the significance of this collaborative effort in advancing the interests of the community.
"This event provides an invaluable opportunity for us to exchange ideas, share best practices, and strengthen partnerships with our colleagues and counterparts from various organisations. It will also provide the opportunity for the NWU and other key stakeholders from the community of Sebokeng to meet and network, ensuring continuous healthy collaboration in the interest of the community,” he says.
Ujeet adds that it is anticipated that the discussions and interactions at the event will lay the foundation for sustained collaboration and shared efforts aimed at furthering the welfare of the Sebokeng community.
