TELIT-SA showcase to focus on technology solutions for inclusive education

The North-West University’s (NWU’s) interdisciplinary research niche area, Technology Enhanced Learning and Innovative Education and Training in South Africa (TELIT-SA), is driven to conducting research to inform innovative teaching and learning practices by means of trailblazing technology.

During the month of September, TELIT-SA will harness the collective power of interdisciplinary collaboration and scholarship to showcase the inventive use of technologies such as augmented reality (AR) and serious games for teaching and learning.

Sharing knowledge with international scholars

TELIT-SA will play host to Sara Muršić, an international PhD student from Edge Hill University in Lancashire, UK.

Sara, who describes herself as a “curios and creative PhD student with a passion for AR and Learning Experience Design (LXD) for inclusive education environments”, will be hosting two workshops in conjunction with TELIT-SA at the campus in Vanderbijlpark.

On 10 September, Sara will speak to the possibilities relating to AR and Technology for Teaching and Learning. She will follow this up with an interactive networking opportunity on 12 September.

More about the expert

Originally from Croatia, Sara’s academic ambitions took her to the University of Latvia, the National Distance Education University (UNED) in Spain – also known as Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia – and now the United Kingdom where she teaches at Edge Hill University.

After completing a BA degree in special education and a MA degree in educational treatment of diversity, her current focus is research on AR and its uses in inclusive education. Coupled with her international teaching experience, Sara is enthusiastic about bringing free and available technology solutions to all educators regardless of the level, knowledge or resources available.

Her recent work connects diverse learners, AR technology and game-base principles in a fun and engaging mix.
