Law students head to India for elite global criminal law moot competition

From 13-15 February 2026 three North-West University (NWU) law students will argue some of the world’s toughest criminal law questions in a premier mooting event in New Delhi in India.

Potchefstroom Campus students Lindiwe Ngophe, Ethan van Wyk and Connor Anderson will represent the NWU at the University of Delhi’s 22nd KK Luthra Memorial Moot Court Competition, a globally respected forum that attracts top universities.

Prof. Ankit Katrodia’s academic visits advance scholarly research and collaboration

Prof. Ankit Katrodia, an associate professor at the North-West University’s (NWU’s) WorkWell Research Unit in the School of Management Sciences, recently concluded an extensive international academic tour spanning Vietnam, India, Dubai (UAE), Nepal and other global academic hubs.

NWU participates in Erasmus+ SacredTravels4Growth project kick-off in Albania

The North-West University (NWU) recently took part in the kick-off meeting of the Erasmus+-funded project, SacredTravels4Growth – Higher Education and Sustainable Growth through Religious Tourism - at the LOGOS University College in Tirana, Albania.

The project is co-funded by the European Union under the ERASMUS-EDU-2025-CBHE-STRAND-2 call and seeks to strengthen higher education capacity through innovative teaching of and research on religious tourism. Its broader goal is to contribute to sustainable socio-economic development in participating regions.

The future of mining in the North West Province depends on the availability of high-calibre mining professionals with specialised skills, and the North-West University (NWU) is an integral part of achieving this.

NWU and Lincoln University strengthen ties in sport and agriculture

The North-West University (NWU) and Lincoln University in New Zealand have expanded their growing academic ties after concluding a series of engagements on sport, recreation, agriculture and applied research.

The visit took place on 26 November, follows an earlier trip by Lincoln academics to the NWU’s Potchefstroom Campus, where initial exchanges were held on high-performance sport, concussion studies and postgraduate training.

Medical and space science research takes centre stage during NWU’s visit to Otago University

Strengthening ties in two fast-growing scientific fields, medicine and space science, was the central focus of high-level engagements at Otago University in New Zealand where the North-West University (NWU) explored opportunities to advance its internationalisation drive.

The visit on 28 November brought together academics working in medical training, health research and astrophysics to map out areas where their institutions can work together in coming years.

Use the NWU’s AI course to make your Christmas merrier

The North-West University (NWU) and its AI Hub are continuing to strengthen the institution’s digital capacity through an incentive programme aimed at encouraging academic staff to complete the AI and Assessment course. This initiative is a collaborative effort between the office of the Senior Deputy Vice-Chancellor: Teaching and Learning, the AI Hub, the Centre for Teaching and Learning (CTL), and People and Culture.

Trio headed to Bangkok for the 5th Global Peace Summit

Three North-West University (NWU) students are preparing to take on one of the world’s most prestigious youth leadership platforms. Delegation explores new academic ties with The University of Western Australia

During a visit to Australia, a delegation from the North-West University (NWU) held a series of engagements with The University of Western Australia (UWA) on 18 November 2025, opening discussions on collaboration in research, teaching and learning, and student and staff mobility.

The visit to UWA – the first by a South African university – aligns with the NWU’s strategy of developing long-term international partnerships across key academic disciplines.
