This September the Optentia research focus area on the North-West University’s (NWU’s) campus in Vanderbijlpark will be hosting a workshop by Dutch expert, Dr Emir Efendić, exploring open science practices and research improvements for positive psychology.

The Optentia research focus area on the North-West University’s (NWU’s) campus in Vanderbijlpark and KU Leuven in Belgium, with the financial backing of the Flemish Interuniversity Board, have been investigating the experiences of unemployed people in townships in South Africa for the last five years.

Award-winning teacher, researcher and tenured associate professor at the University of Twente in the Netherlands, Prof Mark van Vuuren, will be presenting a workshop at the Optentia research focus area on the North-West University’s (NWU’s) campus in Vanderbijlpark this September. The title of the workshop is “Job crafting for academics”.

Phuti Mahanyele needs no formal introduction and is considered to be one of the most influential women in government and business today. In her professional capacity as the executive chairperson of Sigma Capital, an investment holding company, Phuti will form part of the high-level speaker line-up of the upcoming North-West University (NWU) Leadership Summit.

With the 2018 rendition of the Student Entrepreneurship Week (SEW2018) just a week away, the stage is set for a full programme on the North-West University’s (NWU) campus in Vanderbijlpark.

Given the economic climate of South Africa, entrepreneurs should be thought of as national assets to be developed, motivated and compensated to the greatest possible extent. Why, you ask? Because the value of entrepreneurs lie therein that they not only create wealth but also much needed jobs that ultimately stimulates economic growth.

After a very successful national Student Entrepreneurship Week (SEW) during 2017, the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) will once again team-up with institutions of higher learning to host the 2018 rendition of SEW from 20 to 23 August.
