Students Campus Council brings festive season hope to families in need

By Mzwandile Ndlovu

As the festive season draws near, many families in need have little to celebrate. In response, the North-West University (NWU) Student Campus Council (SCC) at the Mahikeng Campus stepped in to make a difference.
On 4 December 2025, the SCC donated clothing and food to Families South Africa (FAMSA) and Men for Real, who will distribute the items to families facing hardships during the festive season.
At the handover, Okuhle Mdlamza, SCC community and stakeholder engagement officer, emphasised the importance of the partnership. “I’m honoured to stand here today at FAMSA and Men for Real. We value this partnership and look forward to continuing to work with you until our term ends.”
Recognising that many families still require support, Okuhle said the SCC intended to continue its community engagement efforts. “We heard your pleas during the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-based Violence, and we are committed to continuing this work. We know that many families are still in need, and we are dedicated to supporting you,” she said.
