Student Life on the Mahikeng Campus of the North West University (NWU) hosted the first Annual Arts Award ceremony at the Mocoseng Sundown’s Resort on 30 September 2023.
Charmaine Molosioa from the Arts Office of the NWU said the purpose of the award ceremony was to recognise the participation of students in structures such as the Student Campus Council (SCC), student residences, the campus radio station, NWUfm, and various student societies on campus.
“We wanted to show our appreciation and encourage the students to continue participating in these structures,” said Charmaine.
Student life director Jim Mulautsi thanked the students for contributing towards the growth within the Student Life sphere.
The winners of the NWU radio awards are:
- Best weekday show – The Brunch Vibes with Dineo, Lindela and the team
- Best weekend show – Olebogeng van Wyk
- Best daytime show overall – The Brunch vibes with Dineo Ratshwene and the team
- Best night-time show overall – Campus Nights with Kwakhanya and Anelisa
- Weekdays presenter – Mogomotsi Nthehelang
- Best news anchor – Tlhalefo Kuntwane
- Best sport anchor – e Kealeboga Mocumi
- Best weekend presenter –Lemon
- Listeners choice – Nolwazi LaXulu
- Best-produced show- City Mornings with Bonolo Monaisa and the team
- Management award (recognition to a member who contributed the most) – Bongani Dhlamini, Thato Tladi and Nomusa Hlongwane
SCC general awards:
- Embracing diversity – Sol Plaatje residence
- Community outreach programme – Cluster 13
- Best student life vibrancy – Lost City residence
- Innovation and creativity – Sol Plaatje residence
- Academic motivation - Faculty of Natural and Agricultural Sciences
- Best SCC-affiliated political society – South African Democratic Teachers Union (SADTU)
- Best student life arts award – d Zulu Society
- Best residence programme – Sol Plaatje residence
- Best SCC-affiliated religious society – Student Christian Organization (SCO)
- Best substructure union – -NWU Debate
These radio presenters were acknowledged for the contributions they made to the campus radio station, NWUfm.
