The registration process for the 2017 academic year for undergraduate students at the Mahikeng Campus of the North-West University (NWU) started on 16 January 2017 and will run until 27 January 2017.
According to the campus registrar, Mr Franco Nkoana, the process is running very smoothly and according to plan.
“We are happy that the registration process is going according to plan and hope to reach our enrolment target by the end of the registration date. We are also looking forward to the smooth running of the 2017 academic year,” he said.
The Campus Students Representative Council (CSRC), in collaboration with campus management, has also made a commitment to ensure a productive and strike-free environment with a view to promote teaching and learning.
According to the acting CSRC president, Mr Reabaone Pudi, they are very optimistic that the registration process will run well and are satisfied with the process thus far. “Both student leaders and management are working together to get lasting solutions to small challenges that may occur.”
The Mahikeng Campus is expected to register 11 500 students, including postgraduates. Registration for postgraduate students is expected to end on 31 March 2017. Classes for undergraduate students will officially resume on 6 February.
