North-West University (NWU) student and bodybuilder Rusmore Verah has been chosen as one of the bodybuilders who will proudly represent South Africa at the upcoming International Fitness and Bodybuilding and Federation (IFBB) World Bodybuilding and Fitness Championships.
Scheduled to take place from 31 October to 6 November in Santa Susanna, Barcelona, Spain, this international competition is a dream come true for Rusmore and a testament to his dedication and hard work.
The championship is renowned worldwide and being selected to participate is a significant achievement for any athlete.
Rusmore says he is grateful for this opportunity. "I'm truly honoured to have been selected. It means that I have improved compared to last year, and I give all the glory to God for this opportunity."
He is aware of the fierce competition he will face on the international stage and acknowledges that the road ahead will be challenging. “However, I am determined to make the most of this incredible opportunity to showcase my skills and dedication.”
Rusmore boasts impressive achievements. In 2022, he secured the first position in the Sunfest Bodybuilding competition (men's physique over 178 cm), and emerged as the overall winner in the University Sports South Africa (USSA) tournament (men's physique). He also earned the third position in the IFBB SA Championship Nationals (men's physique over 178 cm), and clinched the top spot in the Mr and Miss West Rand DGN Classic (men’s physique over 178 cm).
His remarkable journey continued into 2023, where he once again secured the first position in the USSA competition (men’s physique over 178 cm), and triumphed in the IFBB SA Championship Nationals (men's physique over 178 cm).
These impressive accomplishments have paved the way for his current preparation for the international stage in Spain.
