Prospective student leaders take part in Leadership Development Programme

By Bonolo Monaisa

Student Life on the North-West University’s (NWU’s) Mahikeng Campus recently hosted a Leadership Development programme for 40 prospective student leaders from 11 to 14 July.

Among the 40 nominated leaders were members of the Society Sub-committee residences committees and the Golden Key Society.

The programme aimed to enhance students' formative and developmental processes by identifying, developing and improving their leadership potential and capability under the theme “Ascend to Excellence: #SoaringTowardSuccess”.

The programme is also aligned with Goal 4 of the Student Life annual performance plan, which is to develop a clearly differentiated student value proposition with a focus on creating an inclusive environment aimed at developing students.

“We want to prepare future leaders to serve in different leadership roles at the institution,” says director of student life on the Mahikeng Campus, Jim Molautsi.

Dr Corrie Rheeder, director for student life on the Potchefstroom Campus, echoes this sentiment and adds that this unique programme equips students with practical skills and prepares them for leadership roles while studying, and also for later, when they join the corporate world.

Koketso Dikobe, a student in development studies, says she joined the programme to bring about positive change.
