The student chapter of the Faculty of Humanities on the North-West University’s (NWU’s) campus in Mahikeng recently invited political analyst and governance specialist, Mr Dumisani Hlophe, to give a public lecture.
Dumisani’s lecture was titled “Unpacking South Africa’s current political dynamics: What are the implications for the development of the state; and do these recent events mark progress or regress?”
Various NWU students from across all study areas and members of the NWU community attended the lecture.
“Politics in South Africa are seldom ideological contestations but has more to do with factional agendas of the time,” said Dumisani. “In my opinion it is about political expediency.”
Dumisani is the founder and chief executive officer of the strategic think tank, the Kunjalo Centre for Development Research. He is a leadership, policy development and political science expert, and provides advisory services in leadership and management, as well as analysis of the political environment for optimal organisational performance.
His professional experience spans academia as well as the public and private sector. He is a well-known public speaker on leadership, management, organisational development, small business development and political environmental matters.
He holds a master’s degree in politics and is currently pursuing his doctoral studies in politics with UNISA.
