Onwards and upwards as Phetlhu propels NWU to third victory

The North-West University’s (NWU’s) football team, dubbed the noble boys, clinched yet another victory and defended their number-one ranking on the Varsity Football tournament log in a 1-0 victory against the University of Limpopo (UL) at the NWU Stadium.

As expected, the noble boys went into the encounter charged with momentum gained from their previous victories against the University of Western Cape and most recently, the University of KwaZulu-Natal.

Lebogang Phetlhu, jersey no 14, swept the competition away with an unmatched sweeping right kick in the 26th minute of the first half of the match, much to the thrill of the NWU supporters. This marked Lebogang’s third goal in the tournament.

In an attempt to save face, UL went on the offensive for most of the match, but NWU goalkeeper and jersey no 28, Luzuko Jevuka, would have none of it and fended off any attack waged against the NWU’s fortress.

“I am very excited to have assisted the team in securing the three points for this match,” said Lebogang. “Every game is different and we take each game as it comes,” he added.
