North-West University (NWU) final-year BAdmin student Mbulelo Mbiphi was announced as one of the winners of the South African men’s fashion magazine GQ’s Best Dressed Awards for 2021 on 16 October 2021.

GQ’s Best Dressed is an annual competition that presents fashionistas and the country’s most stylish individuals to showcase their dapper style by sharing an image of themselves on social media.

Born and bred in Khuma, Mbulelo says it feels unreal. “I never really thought this would happen, especially considering where I come from.

“I am dedicating this award to all the township kids who are chasing their dreams but feel trapped and helpless, and to those who have lost hope,” adds Mbulelo. He says he wants everyone to know that their dreams are valid, worthwhile, and achievable.

“If a township kid like me can make it alongside amazing creative people such as Rich Mnisi, Bob the Stylist, Justice Mukheli, Don Dada and Thapelo Mokoena, you too can achieve your dreams.

“As long as you believe in yourself and stay focused, anything is possible.”
