NWU women continue to lead the light

In celebration of Women’s Month, Prof Marilyn Setlalentoa, the North-West University’s (NWU’s) deputy vice-chancellor for campus operations in Mahikeng, wishes to share the following message with South African women, and especially those that call the university their home.

As is customary, the month of August is dedicated to women. During this period we recognise women for the sacrifices they make as daughters, mothers, sisters, aunts, grandmothers and support systems to the people around them. We also congratulate them for their achievements in different spheres of life.

However, the scourge of gender-based violence, perpetuated mainly against women and girls in our communities, are a great concern. It is my wish, and I believe also the wish of all South Africans, that we take hands and address this challenge together.

I congratulate all NWU women on the impact they continue to make in the various roles they fulfil.

Continue to lead the light for all mankind! Wathint' bafazi, wathint' imbokodo – you strike a woman, you strike a rock!

Happy Women's Month!
