For the second time in just over a week the North-West University’s (NWU’s) campus in Vanderbijlpark is mourning the tragic passing of another member of the campus community. Lerato Motsie, a second-year BCom Commercial Law student, passed away on Wednesday, 14 February.

Lerato hailed from Parys in the Free State and was a member of the Oryx day residence. He was an avid soccer player and was affiliated to the campus’s soccer club.

The news of Lerato’s passing follows that of Bathabile Mohopela, a student in the Faculty of Education.

The university community wishes to extend its deepest condolences to the bereaved families and friends of these students.
