Third- and fourth-year students from the North-West University’s (NWU’s) Faculty of Engineering attended the annual NAMPO Harvest Day that took place from 16 to 19 May 2023 at NAMPO Park in Bothaville.
The students were accompanied by Prof Rojanette Coetzee and her postgraduate students Hermé Nel and Jorinda Marais.
The main purpose of attending the event was to provide the students with a valuable platform for knowledge-sharing, networking and industry collaboration.
Prof Coetzee says upon entering the gates, the students were immediately captivated by the sheer size and scale of the event.
“Countless exhibitors from various sectors of the agricultural industry had set up impressive displays, featuring everything from state-of-the-art machinery to livestock farming and advanced crop solutions.
“The atmosphere was abuzz with excitement and a shared passion for agriculture. The students were fascinated by how technology has revolutionised the agricultural sector,” adds Prof Coetzee.
“The fourth-year students also participated in a panel discussion with various agri-employers, organised by AgriJob. This helped them to connect with various companies, to exchange ideas and foster partnerships,” she says.
More about Nampo
NAMPO Harvest Day has been the leader in highlighting agricultural innovation and providing a one-stop platform to agricultural enthusiasts in South Africa.
The 2023 theme “Agriculture Innovated” confirms the positive role attributed to the Harvest Day and its contribution to the future of agriculture.
NAMPO plays a key role in developing the agricultural sector by providing a successful environment for businesses and producers to interact and do business. It gathers all agri role players who present their products and services in the areas of production, machinery and food-processing, as well as other products and services related to the sector.
NAMPO is also the place where producers meet and the only trade show that brings together agricultural solutions for all types of farms and crops.
AgriJob organised a panel discussion between students and various agri employers.
