North-West University (NWU) student Tshifhiwa Ramutumbu was recently announced as one of the Miss Unity South Africa 2021 finalists.
The Miss Unity SA pageant aims to empower young women between the ages of 16 and 27.
Tshifhiwa, who is a BA Communication final-year student, says she was over the moon when she was notified about being a finalist. “I have always dreamt about being crowned Miss Unity, and now that I am a finalist I am closer to achieving my goal.”
She started her modelling career in 2015, and has since walked away with a number of pageant titles.
When she is not studying or modelling, she gives back to the community.
“I am passionate about anything and everything that involves giving back to the community. I believe in the power of education, and that is why I chose to be part of various community projects focusing on education. This allows me to uplift those around me through the power of knowledge,” she says.
She recently donated a number of school shoes, uniforms and stationary to underprivileged learners in Pretoria.
Tshifhiwa is up against 30 other young women from across the country. Miss Unity SA 2021 will be crowned on 17 April.
The NWU wishes Tshifhiwa well on her journey to Miss Unity SA – may she continue to fly the NWU flag high.
