Matshidiso Mogotsi, a student at the North-West University’s (NWU’s) campus in Mahikeng, just added another achievement to her name after recently being selected as one of the finalists for the 2017 Miss Commonwealth South Africa pageant.
The Miss Commonwealth South Africa pageant is a platform created for women to become ambassadors for charitable organisations, determined to make a difference in the country. The pageant is also a stepping stone for young women to follow their dreams.
Born and bred in Jouberton, a suburb of Klerksdorp, Matshidiso is currently studying towards a postgraduate diploma in management. She also holds a BCom degree in financial accountancy from the NWU. She founded the nongovernmental organization, Ambassadors of Hope, and has just completed an internship at the North West Provincial Treasury’s Municipal Finance Unit.
“I entered Miss Commonwealth South Africa because I want to make a bigger impact on the lives of our youth and the less fortunate, so that I can contribute towards making this world a better place,” says Matshidiso. “With that being said; the aim is not to bring the crown home, but to bring hope and affect sustainable change.”
