NWU staff attend launch of African Institute for Supply Chain Research

Three staff members of the North-West University (NWU) Business School attended the launch of the African Institute for Supply Chain Research (AISCR) on 13 August 2019 at UNISA’s Muckleneuck Campus in Pretoria.

Prof Fulu Netswera, Prof Jan Meyer and Prof Ravinder Rena attended the event.

The purpose of the launch was to share the value proposition of the research institute and how it will contribute to the strategic priorities of the National Development Plan (NDP) 2030 and the Africa Agenda 2063, “the Africa we want”.

The AISCR is a Pan African dedicated non-profit research institute that conducts innovative research on supply chain management to support worldwide sustainable development and inclusive growth.

The event was attended by 300 delegates who included supply chain professionals, dignitaries from civil society, and representatives from international organisations such as the World Bank and the African Development Bank.

“From September to November 2019 the institute will have follow-up roadshows in cities across the country, and in other African countries such as Kenya, Nigeria, Ghana, Uganda and Angola. “We are looking forward to partnering with the institute,” added Prof Rena.

Attending the launch are Prof Marcus Ambe, president of the AISCR, Prof Fulu Netswera, director of the NWU Business School, Prof Jan Meyer, deputy director, and Prof Ravinder Rena, internationalisation project leader.
