NWU Soccer Institute strengthens squad with experienced winger

The North-West University (NWU) Soccer Institute has reinforced its squad by re-signing a seasoned winger with top-flight and lower-division experience in South Africa and Botswana,Orebotse Mongae.

Mongae previously represented the NWU, returns to bolster the team’s campaign in the Motsepe Foundation Championship.

“It brings me peace and harmony to don the colours of this beautiful institution again. I am happy to be back home and play the beautiful game with such amazing people,” he said.

He believes his experience will benefit the institute. “It will build good character among the players on and off the field. All we have to do is our best and leave the rest to God,” he added.

Coach Nkush Malgas welcomed the winger’s return, emphasising his value to the team. “We needed a player of his calibre, and fortunately, he was available. He knows the culture of the institute, and his leadership will be important both on and off the field,” Malgas said.

He has featured for multiple clubs, including the Royal Eagles (now Royal AM), BCM Stars FC, Platinum City Rovers, Jwaneng Galaxy (Botswana), Baroka FC, and Upington City FC. His return is expected to provide leadership and stability while reinforcing the NWU’s ambition to compete at a high level with integrity and discipline.
