NWU signs MoU with the North West Provincial Government

The North-West University (NWU) is not only dedicated to academic excellence and innovative research, but also to sharing its wealth of knowledge and expertise with various stakeholders.

The university recently renewed its existing Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the North West Provincial Government (NWP).

NWU vice-chancellor Prof Dan Kgwadi, and North West Premier Prof Tebogo Job Mokgoro signed the MoU on 13 September on the campus in Potchefstroom.

Prof Kgwadi said the university is ready and willing to work with the North West province to achieve greater goals.

“I would like to thank the NWU for renewing their commitment to us. We are delighted to be teaming up with the university so we can tackle the province’s priority areas together,” said Prof Mokgoro.

The NWU and the NWP agree on the following as areas of cooperation:

  • Research, science, development and innovation
  • Teaching, learning and training development opportunities
  • Poverty alleviation projects
  • Agricultural development
  • Human security (work, energy and food security)
  • Engineering
  • Health
  • Sports
  • Economic development
  • Organisational and institutional capacity building
  • Indigenous knowledge systems
  • Any other areas which the parties may identify and agree upon from time to time

According to the MoU the NWP and the university will identify priority projects within the province and will work together in implementing them. The cooperation between the two parties will be on a project-by-project basis, and their responsibilities will be determined per project in an appropriate service level agreement.
