The vegetable gardens of two student residences on the North-West University’s (NWU’s) Mahikeng Campus - the Kgosi Dick Montshioa and Mbada residences - are now starting to bear fruit.
The project, which started in 2019, is led by agronomy students, and aims to train and encourage students to plant their own vegetables for sustenance.
The produce from these vegetable gardens will be used by the students living in the residences, as well as the cleaners and gardeners working at the residences.
Jim Molautsi, director for student life on the campus, recently visited the residence vegetable gardens, and says he is proud of the students for their commitment.
“We hope the other residences on the campus will join in this initiative, further contributing to our Green Campus Initiatives," he adds.
