Mr Herman Steyn, the director for NWU business enterprise and development represented the campus and accepted the award at a gala event held at Tsogo Sun in Vanderbijlpark.
Stefan Olivier, chairperson of the chamber, said that the NWU’s approach of service and support to the community is exactly what is needed to make the Vanderbijlpark a better place. He also expressed his hope to involve the university in more future chamber activities and said that he is looking forward to the road ahead.

Prof Linda du Plessis, the deputy vice-chancellor on the NWU’s campus in Vanderbijlpark, described the award as an honour for the campus. “The campus works hard at establishing and maintaining mutually beneficial working relationships with local business. We are preparing the workforce of tomorrow to first and foremost make a contribution within our local community.”
