NWU Mahikeng students shine bright during annual Talent Extravaganza

On Friday, 25 February 2022, the Student Campus Council (SCC) on the Mahikeng Campus of the North-West University (NWU), hosted the annual student Talent Extravaganza with great success.

The event – organised by the SCC’s Arts and Culture office – aims to promote a vibrant student life and to provide a platform for Mahikeng Campus students to showcase their talents.

This event paves the way for the reintroduction of other student life activities for this year and for the future.

This year 36 contestants entered the competition.

“The first-year students of 2022 showed us what they are made of, and the support from our returning senior students was nothing but amazing,” says Katlego Ndikandika, SCC Arts and Culture Officer.

“The event included six performances by senior students, as well as three performances by the Cultural Union Arts group.”

The top three winners received trophies and voucher packages from the NWU Mafika Brand Store. They are:

First: Neo Munyai (Dancer)

Second: Luyanda Mandlisa (Poet)

Third: Tinashe Mushunje (Singer)

Winner and first-year student in the Faculty of Natural and Agricultural Sciences, Neo Munyai, says even though the competition was tough, the experience was amazing.

“Thank you to everyone who participated, to all my friends and my TikTok, Facebook and Instagram fans. Thank you for honouring me with this award, I will always make you proud,” says Neo.
