Coming off strong from their previous victory against Central University of Technology (CUT), and thanks to Banele Hlophe’s stunning goal, the North-West University’s (NWU’s) Noble Boys will be taking on the University of Western Cape (UWC) in their new position as log leaders on Thursday, 5 September 2019.
UWC also recently snatched the carpet from under the Varsity Football defending champions, the Tshwane University of Technology (TUT), by handing them their second straight defeat in a 2-1 victory at their Bellville fortress.
It seems as if this week’s encounter will be nothing else but solidifying the pedigree of the Noble Boys as a team to be reckoned with. It will also cement their authority as the team with the most improved game results by far in this year’s tournament.
Coach Masehela’s rallying cry for the NWU purple army to not waiver in their support has borne fruit, with the team leading the tournament log at number one.
At this stage, as teams begin to fall sideways in the elimination rounds, it is teams like the Noble Boys that will show their mettle and steely determination, playing the kind of football that pays homage to where they come from.
