The North-West University (NWU) is calling on all running and cycling enthusiasts to take part in its bigger and better online sporting challenges.
On 20 June the NWU will host the second Virtual Fun Run/Walk and on 21 June the Virtual Cycle challenge for students, staff and members of the public.
“After the 5 km fun run that was hosted last month, we received a number of queries about hosting a cycling challenge. We spoke to our relevant stakeholders and found that hosting a cycling challenge with three distances would be possible,” says NWU stakeholder relations practitioner Louis Janse van Rensburg.
To take part in these challenges, individuals need to register on Wufoo. Registration will close on Friday, 18 June at 09:00. Participants only need a smartphone or a fitness device that will help them enter their times on Wufoo at the end of the race or challenge.
“After registering, all cyclists and runners will receive more information via email. We urge all participants to adhere to lockdown Level 3 regulations of social distancing and to not run or cycle in groups,” he says.
Winners from the two sports disciplines will receive NWU goodie bags, and spot prizes will also be awarded to various participants.
Three additional distances for runners
Running fanatics who felt that last month’s 5 km fun run was too easy for them will be happy to know that on 20 June an NWU Virtual Run/Walk with two additional distances will be held.
Members of the public can now choose to take part in the 5 km, 10 km or 21 km race.
