NWU hosts successful pre-marital seminar

On 2 October 2017 the North-West University’s (NWU’s) Faculty of Theology at the campus in Mahikeng hosted a successful pre-marital seminar with the theme “Biblical Principles on Marriage Preparation”.

The seminar included presentations by academics from the faculty, including Dr Amanda du Plessis on the Golden Rules in Preparation for Marriage, and Dr Fazel Freeks who spoke about the Introduction of the Fatherhood Programme.

“This seminar contributes to the NWU’s aim to create an open and inclusive partnership between the university and its external stakeholders to create a society that will benefit the next generations,” said Mr Joshua Bawakuna.

During his welcoming speech to delegates consisting of religious and community leaders, Prof Dan Kgwadi, NWU vice-chancellor, stressed the importance of partnerships between the university and community stakeholders in achieving the kind of unified and inclusive society a university ought to be.

“As a university we do not just offer tuition to students that come through our gates, we also offer a world of opportunities. Equally, those opportunities must be met with leadership attributes that we, as collective here through our partnership, must instill in our young people now more than ever,” said Prof Kgwadi.

Prof Tessa van Wijk addresses the audience during the recent pre-marital seminar that was hosted on the NWU’s campus in Mahikeng.
