The North-West University (NWU) Vanderbijlpark Campus recently hosted a massively successful Gender Based Violence (GBV) campaign at the student centre.
The GBV awareness campaign addressed high incidents of rape to help reduce sexual violence at the North-West University (NWU) Vanderbijlpark Campus and community to improve students understanding of consent.
The discussion touched on what constitutes rape, consent, and their parameters in South African law, as well as where to seek help internally and externally. The event was attended by NWU students, staff, and external stakeholders.
The event was a massive success. "This was the first of such events post lockdown, and the turnout was outstanding; everyone was fully immersed in all the day's activities," said Miss Zinhle Kunene, Industrial Psychologist from the Student Counselling and Development.
This group of students participated in the GBV campaign.
