The North-West University’s (NWU’s) Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences recently hosted a property investment workshop for students.
The workshop – themed “Empowering South Africa’s youth through property entrepreneurship” – was jointly hosted with the South African Property Investment club (SAPIN) and the Black Management Forum (BMF).
Dr Alex Molefi from the faculty says the purpose of the workshop was to ensure that students understand the different professions within property investment and how individuals can invest in property.
"I believe that it is time that black South Africans start to take property investment seriously and really become involved in this space,” says Dr Molefi.
One of the workshop speakers and head of SAPIN Youth, Daniel Kazadi, said that being a young person himself, he knows first-hand the difficulties that come with having big goals and not having a platform to help you achieve them.
“Having shadowed CEO of SA Property Network Andrew Walker since I was 18 and receiving guidance and support from him, I have been able to build and own property. This is why SAPIN Youth exists – to educate, inspire and grow a network of young property entrepreneurs in South Africa.”
Baatile Tsie from the BMF said everything starts as a dream and those dreams can be realised.
“As the BMF, we aim to be an incubation hub for property developers.”
Attending the property investment workshop are from left Loraine Shiko, Kholiswa Mogoeng, Dr Alex Molefi, Dr Dorcas Lesenyeho, Semame Mokgasi and Phatsimo Mosii.
