African communities are stepping into the spotlight as equal partners in shaping knowledge. From 7–9 July 2026, at the African Community-Led Knowledge Co-Creation Conference at the North-West University’s Potchefstroom campus, bringing together academics, community leaders, and development partners to explore how collaborative knowledge creation can transform lives.
Hosted by the Faculty of Health Sciences, the conference builds on last year’s successful seminar and reflects a growing commitment among African universities to co-create knowledge that responds to real societal needs.
Keynote speaker Dr Ndivhuwo Luruli, chief strategist at the National Research Foundation, will address: “Including Communities for Effective Research Communication for Project Outcome and Research Impact.”
Over three days, delegates will tackle themes of youth empowerment, sustainable partnerships, skills development, accessibility, and health and well-being, which are all aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals and the African Union’s Agenda 2063.
Prof. Efe Useh, deputy dean for Community Engagement and Stakeholder Relations, expressed gratitude to NWU leadership and community partners for championing this initiative: “This conference places communities at the centre of research and innovation.”
