Inclusivity and an appreciation for our differences is what make the North-West University (NWU) a family that strives for excellence. That is why the NWU’s Faculty of Theology will be hosting Gender Awareness Week (GAW) from 26 to 30 August on all three its campuses.
The ultimate goal of GAW is to create a safe space to encourage discussion and discourse between people with different convictions on gender, gender diversity, sexuality, and sexual diversity.
Many of these perspectives and convictions are often linked to an individual’s background, religious convictions or sense of spirituality.
The GAW attempts to bring these diverse voices together under the theme of “Gender and Spirituality”.
"We envisage that the GAW will provide a forum for discussions on these different perspectives within religious communities, and will encourage dialogue between religion-based and non-religion-based views," says Prof Hennie Goede, dean of the Faculty of Theology.
Workshops, art exhibitions, group discussions and a concert are but a few of the events that will take part during the GAW. Click on this link to read more http://www.nwu.ac.za/gender-awareness-week .
