The North-West University’s (NWU’s) campus in Mahikeng hosted an annual Career Fair on 16 May 2018 at the Multi-Purpose Hall.
Career fairs provide students the opportunity to understand more about the range of careers in their field of study, to network with interested employers, and to motivate them to engage actively in the process of securing employment.
“Attending career fairs is an important part of your job-search strategy and plan,” says Mr Thoriso Maseng, manager of the NWU Career Centre. “It gives you the opportunity to meet people with whom you can talk about career opportunities.”
“It is always better to address correspondence or a telephone enquiry to a specific person and try to gather information about employers so that you can form an opinion regarding the type of employers they seem to be. Career fairs give you the opportunity to gain knowledge regarding the various possibilities existing within the specific degree or study field(s) you have chosen,” he adds.
