The North-West University (NWU) Vaal Hockey Club recently hosted a small gathering for Brandon Moolman and his family and friends to celebrate his graduation.
Brandon made news headlines last year after breaking his neck in a freak accident that left him paralysed.
However, this did not put a stop to his perseverance, and he graduated with a BCom degree in economics and international trade during the NWU's conferral of degrees in October 2020.
The 24-year-old is also a member of the Golden Key International Honours Society, and is the son of Dr Leon Moolman, a senior lecturer in labour relations management at the NWU’s Vanderbijlpark Campus.
During the event the hockey club presented Brandon with a framed number six hockey jersey - the number he played in the NWU Vaal Hockey team - and signed by his teammates. This was to show their support for their former teammate and to let him know that they were proud of him and that even though he could no longer play with them, he would always be part of the team.
Eagi, the NWU’s popular mascot, also made an appearance and gave Brandon a gift bag filled with goodies to congratulate him on obtaining his degree.
Brandon is currently busy with his honours degree.
A proud moment - Brandon Moolman, his father Dr Leon Moolman and the NWU mascot, Eagi.
